Once Upon a Cake…
Linda Morganstein’s confections are feats of architecture—sometimes literally. A
fundraising event was the occasion for her white chocolate scale model of Casa
Loma, featuring carved stonework, turrets, towers and gardens, all details
precise and gorgeous. For one fête, she created a standing sugar model of the
birthday girl surrounded by sugar replicas of Harrods, Cartier and Escada
shopping bags, against white chocolate storefronts. And what better way to
celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Toronto Stock Exchange than with an
edible replica, in bas-relief, of a postage stamp issued for the occasion?
Licking postage is rarely such a treat.
